Santosha was a 1993, 34′ Marine Trader aft cabin trawler.

Several years (and boats) ago Catherine and I worked out an arrangement where I got to choose the boat we would own and she would name it. Her passion is yoga, so she likes to link her passion to mine through the name of our boat. Previous boats were named “Navasana” (the boat pose in yoga) and “Ananda” (which means bliss or divine joy to yogis).

“Santosha” is a Sanskrit word that translated into English means “contentment”. It is also an ethical concept in East Indian philosophy and is particularly meaningful to people who practice yoga, A very fitting name for a boat that we are both very happy to have as part of our life together.

We purchased Santosha in April 2017 through a boat broker in Northern Florida. One of my long time boating ambitions has been to  travel the Great Loop so buying a boat in Florida presented an opportunity for me to complete a significant portion of that journey this past summer.  I started out from Jacksonville on June 30th. Santosha’s Statistics

We only owned Santosha for a few years but we had lots of adventures and memories that will stay with us for a long time especially cruising the ICW, Hudson River and Erie Barge Canal, the Rideau Canal and the Ottawa River.
