Darrel & Taylor Go Bowling In Northport MI

So we arrived in Northport just before supper time & Chris suggested we check out the town, have someone else make supper for us & then do some provisioning.

We had a great meal at a local restaurant & by co-incidence they had a bowling alley as part of their venue. So what you do instead of eating desert? Why you go bowling of course!

Last summer while we were cruising in the North Channel on Chris’ boat we “invented” two alter personalities of boaters you would never want to meet beside you in a marina or in a small anchorage.

My character is Darrel Winedrainer & Chris is Taylor Floodgate. Our cruising buddies Andre & Janet Beneteau from Goderich Yacht Club had a brief encounter with them in a remote anchorage & they are still in therapy. That’s a whole other story……

Anyway, we had a lot of fun bowling but we will probably be reminded how badly out of shape we are in the morning.

Cheers!

En Route to Northport, MI

It’s another fantastic day & we are making great progress. In fact we are doing so well the we have changed our destination from Petoskey to Northport . Should be there around 6 pm.

We are on a straight line run for about 20 km & the wind is in our favor so we have put up the mainsail for the first time.

Cheers!

St. Ignace Michigan

We arrived at the marina in St. Ignace at 3:30 this afternoon – a 6 1/2 hour journey of approximately 45 nautical miles (83 kilometers). That’s pretty good time for a boat like this.

What do you do when you are on a long passage? Take turns sleeping & watching for traffic, enjoy the scenery, read or take on a chore that needs to be done.

Cheers!

Culinary Delights While Underway

Chris & I have divided up some of our “duties ” while on board. I look after the engine maintenance & Chris is in command of the galley.

Chris likes to cook so who am I to argue with that? I keep offering to take a turn at the stove but he won’t let me go beyond washing the dishes. I think it’s a self preservation strategy on his part. Probably a very wise move.

Anyway, we both love bacon & this morning Chris introduced me to a delicacy that I have never had before – toasted bacon & peanut butter sandwiches! Awesome!

Thanks Chris! (What’s for dinner tonight? 😜)
