Kerala Kalamandalam Costumes

In this class students were learning how to make the costumes that the performers would wear. This work is very intricate, with carving, sewing, painting and working with gold foil.

A nice thing about this class is that it was very quiet and peaceful – especially compared to the Drumming classes!

Kerala Kalamandalam

Today we visited the Kerala Kalamandalam School of Performing Arts. It is located in Cheruthruruthy Village about a 2 1/2 hour drive form our hotel.

This school was founded in 1930 to help preserve cultural performing arts. It was a fascinating place & we had a personalized tour.  There were 3 of us on the tour – Catherine, myself & a woman from Montreal. A small world indeed!
