Alternator Update

Monday morning I took a cab over to Green Bay Rebuilders to pick up a new alternator that they ordered in for me. I also brought the “old” alternator along so they could remove the drive belt pulley from it & install it on the new alternator.

While I was there they took the old unit apart to see what was wrong & they found that the slip ring for the brushes was improperly installed by whoever rebuilt that unit. As a result the brushes wore unevenly & as soon as one of the brushes could no longer make proper contact it stopped working. The technician did a quick repair and the alternator is working just fine again. I didn’t even need a new part!

So, now I have a brand new alternator installed on the engine & I will keep the old unit on board as a spare.

I was really impressed by the service I received from this company and would recommend them to anyone who needs this type of work done.

The operation was a success!
