It’s just turned midnight & we have traveled about 1/3 of the total distance to our destination.
GPS says we have traveled about 24 nautical miles & we have about 60 more to go – roughly 8-9 hours more. Average speed is about 7 knots.
Chris & I are taking turns on the helm while the other naps. Not much to do except watch the chart plotter to confirm we are on course & keep an eye on the engine instrument gauges.
There are lots of stars in the sky overhead but the forward visibility is pretty much non existent. As a result all we can do is watch for other the lights of other boats.
Water depth in this part of the lake is consistently over 400 feet so there’s not any worry about running aground.
There is a slight chop on the water but we are having a comfortable passage & the marine forecast is very good. Light winds, no thunderstorms & wave heights of 2 feet or less.
