Green Bay City

We left Little Sturgeon Bay at 8:00am Sunday morning & arrived at the South Bay Marina at 12:30 noon. Total distance traveled was about 26 nautical miles.

The south end of Green Bay (bay) is very shallow & the last 7 n.m. of our trip was via a narrow channel that is maintained to a depth of about 28+ feet. The channel is very well marked., so as long as you follow the buoys you will be ok but if you have a boat with 5 feet of draft or greater and you stray outside of the channel you risk running aground very quickly.

The lighthouse in the photo below (at 44°39′8″ N 87°53′60″ W) is several miles from shore and marks the beginning of the channel. You can see it from a long distance away. It appears that locals like to come out on warm summer days & have some fun jumping off it.

Cheers!
